We Must Stand Up For Peace

Gurudev gave the keynote address at an international seminar on “Unity & Collaboration In A Post Pandemic World” jointly organized by the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Gurudev said “We have to move from independence to interdependence. People come together either when there is a crisis, when they feel threatened or when they are wise; when they understand we are all interdependent. When there is war or when a religion is attacked people come together. Can we not come together for something positive?! We can, but only when we are strong mentally and don’t get swayed away buy the world events. Conflicts happen when either trust or communication breaks down. The mind is the basis of our action. A strong body cannot carry a weak mind but a strong mind can carry a weak body. And to make a lasting impact on the world we need strong and like minded people to come together and stand up for peace. Usually the negative voices are a few, but are very loud what we need today is that the sane and peaceful voices need to become strong and loud. Masculinity needs to be identified with compassion and broad mindedness. We need independence from negative thoughts. Inside every individual I see a beautiful person waiting to come out and this is only possible when nations, communities and societies collectively come together and help each other out. When the mind is calm and serene, we are able to hear each other better, we are able to communicate better and see the situation from a broader perspective and this is essential if we want to establish peace in this world.”
