“I would like to see Mauritius go up in the Happiness Index of the world,” Gurudev said.
On his four-day official visit to Mauritius after 18 long years, Gurudev received a grand welcome from all sections of the society, as his message for creating a happier, healthier and peaceful Mauritius resonated with everyone right from the diaspora, elected representatives, to youth, women and community leaders.
With his vision of creating a stress-free and violence-free world, Gurudev flagged off national-level Art of Living programs in Mauritian prisons and held high-level discussions with Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun, Hon. President of the Republic of Mauritius and Honourable Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius about the need for programs for youths to address their mental health challenges; promoting the highly beneficial health systems like Ayurveda and yoga that can help create a healthier, fitter and more peaceful society.

“Mauritius is a perfect example of harmony in diversity with so many people of multiple faiths, backgrounds, and cultures living here peacefully,” Gurudev said. “This gives an important message that we are a One-world Family. Not only that, Indians have been living here for thousands of years while keeping their traditions and cultures alive so well,”

Art of Living signed an MOU with the Mauritius Prison Service to host its Prison Programs in the Mauritian prisons. It is a rehabilitative program that aims to end the cycle of violence and despondency and relieve emotional stress. “We have programs in prisons, where we bring out the best inside a human being,” Gurudev said, “Their worst brings them to the prison but when they tap into their source, the best in them, they become good citizens and do good work for their society.”
During his four-day visit, Gurudev addressed several public gatherings, filled with wisdom, music, chanting and celebration at various locations including Pailles, Goodlands, and Wooton.
